Tiago is the Android engineer at Napps and, by most internal accounts, the reason the Android app works, which is not a sentence every company can say with a straight face. He's a genuinely self-made developer: no bootcamp origin myth, just years of teaching himself the platform and then wandering off to find Android libraries so obscure that Stack Overflow has one answer, from 2017, marked "not sure if this still works." It works now. Tiago made it work.

He's great at architecture, which is a polite way of saying he cares deeply about the parts of the app you will never see and will absolutely notice if he gets wrong. He built out Analytics and set up Espresso for testing, so the app is measured and verified by systems he trusts more than he trusts most people. He does not love design. He does, however, love arguing with the designer about design, an important distinction, and a hobby he pursues with the commitment of a man who has already lost the argument but simply has more to say. He hates blur. All blur. Every kind. Do not put blur near him.

He's also Napps' RGPD lead, which means when it comes to data protection, consent, and what an app is and isn't allowed to quietly collect, Tiago is the one who reads the actual regulation instead of the blog post summarizing the regulation. In a space full of people who treat privacy as a checkbox, he treats it as an architecture problem, which is exactly what it is.

On the blog, Tiago writes about native Android performance, app architecture, testing, and doing data collection the compliant way, the intersection of "make it fast" and "make it legal" that most teams would rather not think about. He thinks about it so you don't have to. Just don't ask him to add a frosted-glass effect.
