Best mobile app builders for Shopify in 2026

The best mobile app builder for Shopify depends on who will do the work. In our assessment, start with Venn Apps for a managed bespoke build, MobiLoud to keep your existing web storefront, Tapcart for in-app experimentation, OneMobile for the lowest starting subscription, and NAPPS for native screens your team runs without developers.
We are NAPPS, a native mobile app builder for Shopify and Shopify Plus brands, and one of the providers below. The recommendations are our assessment of a selected shortlist, based on documented plans and implementation options.
Best mobile app builders for Shopify by requirement
Start with the provider whose operating model fits your team, then confirm the plan and implementation scope. A staffed design service and a developer-tool subscription cover different work.
| If your priority is | Start with | Relevant monthly subscription |
|---|---|---|
| Managed bespoke design and implementation | Venn Apps | Pro from $1,999; confirm scope |
| Keeping your existing web storefront | MobiLoud | Business $1,499, plus setup and usage charges |
| Experimentation inside the app platform | Tapcart | Scale $1,250 for A/B testing; Growth starts at $500 |
| The lowest initial subscription in this shortlist | OneMobile | Scale-Up $99, plus success fees above its app-revenue allowance |
| Native shopping screens your team runs without developers, with Klaviyo on every plan | NAPPS | Business $299, Klaviyo included |
| Custom native components, built with NIA (the AI assistant included with Expresso) or by your developer/agency | NAPPS | Business $299, Expresso included; implementation scoped separately |
Competitor subscriptions were checked October 12, 2026 against the primary sources linked below. NAPPS prices are our current plans. These recommendations describe fit within the shortlist, not tested category leadership.
Research scope. We checked public pricing and product information. The Tapcart device observations cover the same nine apps on Android (September 2026) and iOS (October 2026). For Venn, MobiLoud, and OneMobile we inspected the app packages of one live app each in October 2026. We did not install trials or test any vendor's onboarding, quotes, or contracts. Support quality, design quality, and execution are not ranked. Unresolved evidence is marked Unknown.
Compare the best mobile app builders for Shopify on custom work
Compare the work included in each plan before comparing the price. Developer access lets someone build; a managed service assigns people to do the work.
| Provider | Plan for custom work | Who builds it |
|---|---|---|
| NAPPS | Business $299 with Expresso, or Enterprise $999 | Your developer with Expresso; NAPPS on Enterprise, within agreed scope |
| Tapcart | Enterprise+, from $2,850 | Your developer with Tapcart's developer tools; services quoted |
| Venn Apps | Pro, from $1,999 | Venn's team: managed design and build |
| MobiLoud | Business $1,499 + one-time fee | MobiLoud, from your website; native work quoted |
| OneMobile | OMNI, $990 | OneMobile's designer: exclusive brand design |
Confirm before signing:
- NAPPS: which components are included, and the quote for complex work.
- Tapcart: the exact Custom Blocks entitlement within Enterprise+.
- Venn Apps: whether you get SDK access, and which changes need Venn.
- MobiLoud: the one-time fee amount and the price of native work.
- OneMobile: SDK access, custom-code portability, and deliverables.
Sources checked October 12, 2026: Tapcart pricing, Venn pricing and development scope, MobiLoud pricing, and OneMobile's expanded plan breakdown.
OneMobile's Brand-Up description does not establish the custom-design service listed on OMNI. The detailed table places exclusive brand design and a dedicated designer only on the $990 plan. Confirm custom code and integrations separately.
On NAPPS, Business ($299) includes Expresso and covers platform and developer-tool access. It is not a complete custom-development quote. Enterprise includes custom design and features within agreed scope, while complex components or experiences can require additional project fees.
Venn's website quotes Enterprise, its Shopify listing lists it from $2,999, and a separate development page uses GBP. Ask for one quote in one currency with the deliverables attached.
What the best mobile app builders for Shopify cost beyond the subscription
Your total includes the required subscription, variable charges, implementation, and the work your team will do. Some providers publish usage fees; others need to quote parts of the engagement.
| Cost to compare | What to put in the budget |
|---|---|
| Subscription | The plan that covers your integrations, custom work, and markets |
| Variable charges | Revenue or usage fees, with their allowances and caps |
| Implementation and development | Setup, custom-screen labor, testing, and any extra project scope |
| Third-party tools | Separately billed push, analytics, or other services |
| Operating time | The people who merchandise the app and maintain custom work |
OneMobile charges a percentage of app revenue above a monthly allowance, with a separate infrastructure-fee cap. The subscription is additional to that cap.
| OneMobile plan | Subscription/month | App-revenue allowance/month | Fee on revenue above allowance | Infrastructure-fee cap/month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scale-Up | $99 | $2,000 | 2.9% | $1,000 |
| Brand-Up | $299 | $10,000 | 1.9% | $2,000 |
| OMNI | $990 | $100,000 | 1.2% | $3,000 |
Sources: OneMobile pricing and Shopify listing, checked October 12, 2026. Model the bill as subscription plus the smaller of the fee cap and the rate applied to revenue above the allowance. Before publishing a forecast, confirm how OneMobile defines revenue, refunds, taxes, and the billing period.
MobiLoud Business is $1,499/month, or $1,274 as the monthly equivalent on annual billing. It includes 10,000 active devices and lists $50 per additional 1,000. Devices are counted over 30 days, with usage reviewed quarterly against the preceding three months. Enterprise uses quoted usage tiers; Business overage arithmetic does not apply to it.
Both MobiLoud plans have a one-time development and submission fee whose amount is Unknown in the reviewed pricing page, checked October 12, 2026. Third-party push charges can apply separately. Confirm the setup amount and usage rounding in your quote.
NAPPS charges no revenue share. Tapcart's former success fee was removed for new 2026 contracts, but a legacy agreement may still carry it. Venn's homepage advertised no success fee when checked September 13, 2026; that claim was not refreshed in October. Confirm the contract that will apply to you.
Check what renders your shopping screens
A mobile app can combine native UI and embedded web content. Ask how the product page, cart, search, custom components, and required integrations render in the build you would buy.
SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose are the frameworks NAPPS uses; they are not the only ways to create native UI. React Native can render platform UI components. A WebView displays web content inside an app. A framework label alone does not settle how every shopping screen works.
| Provider | Evidence and its limits |
|---|---|
| NAPPS | Commerce screens render in SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose, including custom UI built with Expresso |
| Venn Apps | Native. Its build page names Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android, checked October 12, 2026. The current Venn-built iOS app we inspected that day (version 20.0.90) is a Swift app on Apple's UIKit, running Venn's SDK against Venn's backend, with no web front end in its bundle. Its Android build (version 1.1.20034) is Kotlin with Jetpack Compose. One app, inspected from its packages; integration screens were not tested |
| MobiLoud | Web content in a native shell. Its architecture explanation describes webview content with a native shell, checked October 12, 2026. The MobiLoud-built iOS app we inspected that day (version 5.5) matches: a native UIKit tab bar and settings screens around web views that load the brand's site, with its configuration fetched from MobiLoud. One app, inspected from its bundle; shopping screens were not traced one by one |
| Tapcart | The same nine Tapcart-built apps, Android in September 2026 and iOS in October 2026: cart, product listing, search, profile, quick add, menu, and home components rendered as web content. In the iOS app traced screen by screen (version 10.8, iOS 26.6.2), they were pages of a Next.js web app served from tapcart.studio, inside a native shell. Its Web Bridge SDK documents a web-content path. Dated samples, not a claim about every build |
| OneMobile | Its listing markets native apps. The OneMobile-built iOS app we inspected on October 12, 2026 (version 3.64) is React Native with Expo modules, which renders native views. It also ships a web view component, so individual screens may embed web content. One app, inspected from its bundle; shopping screens were not tested on a device |
The five-minute WebView check gives behavioral clues to investigate. Confirm the implementation with the provider and test your actual shopping flows. Rendering evidence does not establish a speed, conversion, or revenue difference between these providers.
The five, and the question to settle before you sign
Venn Apps: a managed bespoke build
Choose it when you want a dedicated design and implementation team rather than software to drive yourself, and a native app built for you. Venn names Swift and Kotlin, and the Venn-built iOS app we inspected is a Swift app on UIKit. Venn's development page describes a dedicated designer, managed implementation, launch support, and a merchant CMS for routine content changes, with larger changes going through Venn. Its Enterprise tier lists localization, expansion stores, wallet loyalty passes, geo-targeted push, and monthly strategy sessions (pricing, checked October 12, 2026).
Choose another when you want your own developer or agency to control custom-screen work, or your budget cannot cover a managed engagement from $1,999/month. Venn's CMS supports routine content edits; confirm which larger changes require its team.
Settle first: the exact split between what the CMS lets you edit and what needs Venn, the turnaround on a custom-screen request, and which Enterprise presentation applies to you. Venn's website and its Shopify listing present Enterprise differently, and a separate development page quotes a pound figure. Ask for one written quote in one currency.
MobiLoud: keep the storefront you already built
Choose it when your mobile website is genuinely good, your integrations all live there, and duplicating that work in a second merchandising system is the thing you are trying to avoid.
Choose another when you want the shopping screens themselves to be native, or you want one system where app merchandising is separate from web merchandising.
Settle first: the one-time fee, since the amount is not published. Then test checkout, subscriptions, loyalty, and authentication in a real build rather than trusting a compatibility list. Its pricing FAQ checked October 12, 2026, says your developer, push, and analytics accounts stay yours, and that MobiLoud hands back requested configuration and build-setting exports within 30 days of an engagement ending. That is the published term, not legal advice, so have counsel read the actual agreement.
Tapcart: experiment tooling on web-rendered shopping screens
Choose it when in-app A/B testing is a hard requirement. Its pricing page lists A/B testing, user segmentation, heatmaps, and scrollmaps on Scale at $1,250 per month, and data-warehouse streaming on Enterprise+. NAPPS has no A/B testing, and its warehouse streaming is not self-serve. That is Tapcart's case in this shortlist, and it is a narrow one (our assessment).
Choose another when you want the shopping screens themselves to be native. In the Tapcart apps we inspected, they were web pages. We inspected the same nine Tapcart-built apps on Android in September 2026 and on iOS in October 2026. On both platforms the cart, product listing, search, profile, quick add, menu, and home components rendered as web content. In the iOS app we traced screen by screen (version 10.8, iOS 26.6.2), the cart, the full product page from its image and video gallery down to the add-to-cart button, the account tab, the collection screen, and the home tabs were each a page of a Next.js web app served from tapcart.studio inside the app's WebView. Only the shell around them, the status, navigation, and tab bars, was native. That is nine apps, not every Tapcart build.
The same applies if your app marketing runs through Klaviyo. Tapcart's own Klaviyo integration page carries an "Enterprise Only" label, verified October 12, 2026, which puts Klaviyo on a plan from $2,850 per month. On NAPPS, Klaviyo push and events are on every plan from $299.
Settle first: check it yourself instead of asking. Install two or three apps Tapcart lists as customers, turn on Web Inspector on your iPhone (Settings, Apps, Safari, Advanced), connect it to a Mac, and open the cart and a product page. If the screen appears under your iPhone in Safari's Develop menu, it is a web page. The WebView check walks through it, and it takes about ten minutes. Then price the plan your stack needs, one integration page at a time. The published entry price is $500, but Klaviyo and developer tooling both sit on Enterprise+, so read the label on the page for each tool you run rather than the pricing page alone. The full platform-by-platform version of this is in NAPPS vs Tapcart.
OneMobile: the lowest initial subscription
Choose it when entry cost is the binding constraint. At $99 per month, Scale-Up is the cheapest paid plan in this shortlist by a wide margin, and its listing shows 4.8 stars across 364 reviews with the Built for Shopify badge in its own header, verified October 12, 2026.
Choose another when your app revenue will run well above the allowance, or when you want the stack documented before you commit. At Scale-Up, revenue above $2,000 per month is billed at 2.9% until the $1,000 cap, and the cheapest plan stops being the cheapest bill early. At about $8,900 a month in app revenue, Scale-Up costs about $299 a month, the same as the Brand-Up subscription (illustrative example, before OneMobile's revenue definition, refunds, and taxes are confirmed). OneMobile does not publish its framework; the OneMobile-built app we inspected is React Native with a web view component, so ask which of your shopping screens load web content.
Settle first: whether the visual editor covers your design, or you need OMNI's exclusive brand design and dedicated designer at $990/month. Confirm the implementation deliverables in writing. Then check the account arrangement. Terms sections 9.2 to 9.4, checked October 12, 2026, recommend merchant-owned developer accounts and describe shared accounts as a temporary option that may be withdrawn, with migration possibly required. Own your Apple and Google accounts from day one, whoever you pick. Note also that the free plan does not get you a published app: the listing puts iOS and Android apps on Scale-Up, so $99 is the real floor rather than $0.
NAPPS: native screens your team runs, with custom native UI when you need it
Our own entry, held to the same test as the other four.
Choose us when you want every shopping screen built in SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose, run day to day by your merchandising team without developers. Business is $299/month and includes Klaviyo push, profile identification, event tracking, in-app forms, and deep links. When you need a screen the builder does not have, Expresso builds custom native components. NIA, the AI assistant included with Expresso, builds small components and projects with your team, so those do not need a developer; your developer or agency takes the larger work. Expresso is included on every plan, so Business at $299 a month covers platform and tool access; custom implementation is a separate scope. Enterprise includes custom design and features within agreed scope, and complex work can carry project fees. Ometria requires Enterprise at $999. Every plan has unlimited seats and unlimited push notifications. NAPPS carries Shopify's Built for Shopify status, revalidated by Shopify on October 7, 2026.
Choose another when you need in-app A/B testing. NAPPS does not have it, and we will add it only when a customer needs it; Tapcart lists it on Scale. Data-warehouse streaming is not a self-serve feature either, but the event data already sits in NAPPS analytics, so if streaming is a hard requirement, tell us and we can scope access for your launch.
Settle first: the same thing you should ask us as anyone else. Bring one custom screen you actually want, and make every vendor on your shortlist show it running on your own catalog before you sign.
Match the shortlist to five real requirements
Feature grids compare everything and decide nothing. Take the five jobs a growing Shopify brand actually runs and price each one against the plan that covers it.
- Routine merchandising without engineering. Every provider here has an operator interface. The question is who else needs to be involved and how many of your team can log in. Tapcart's Growth plan lists one team member account, with full team access on Scale (pricing). Venn splits routine CMS edits from larger changes that go through Venn. NAPPS gives every plan unlimited seats, because login runs through Shopify. MobiLoud's app reuses your web storefront, so your web team keeps editing it while MobiLoud maintains the app layer. On OneMobile, your team uses the visual editor, and custom services need an agreed scope.
- Loyalty and reviews. Plan gates hide here. On several vendors the plan label lives on the integration page rather than the pricing page. Open the page for each tool you already run and read the label on it.
- Klaviyo-driven push and events. Check availability, required plan, and implementation scope separately. The table below distinguishes confirmed entitlement from documented event and push coverage. Ask each provider to demonstrate the flow your marketing team needs.
- A custom product experience. Bring one screen specification to each provider. Use the custom-work table above to separate tool access from managed design, then request implementation deliverables, rendering details, and a labor estimate.
- Another market. Localization, per-market design, and multi-store apps sit on the top tier almost everywhere: Venn Enterprise lists localization and expansion stores, MobiLoud puts multi-region configuration on Enterprise, and NAPPS Enterprise at $999 covers design, language, and notifications per market. Get the specific markets in writing, because "international" can mean a translated app, a per-market app, or several stores in one app (our assessment).
| Provider | Klaviyo availability and required plan | Documented scope in this research |
|---|---|---|
| NAPPS | Every plan, from $299 | Push, profile identification, event tracking, in-app forms, and deep links; no geofencing |
| Tapcart | Enterprise Only, from $2,850 | Entitlement verified; do not infer scope parity from the label |
| MobiLoud | Klaviyo push on quoted Enterprise | Push offering; broader event scope needs confirmation |
| OneMobile | Every paid plan, from $99 plus applicable fees | App-event coverage and Klaviyo push support Unknown |
| Venn Apps | Listed; plan gate Unknown | Event and push scope Unknown |
Sources: Tapcart Klaviyo, MobiLoud pricing, and OneMobile's expanded pricing table, checked October 12, 2026. The Venn directory lists Klaviyo but did not resolve its gate. Request a demonstration of the events and push flow your team will use.
The full stress test, including what to ask in a demo and how to score the answers, is in how to evaluate a Shopify mobile app platform. If you are earlier than that and still deciding whether to build at all, start with how to turn a Shopify store into a mobile app.
What the app channel is worth when it works
We will not show you a lift chart from anyone's marketing page, ours included. Every figure here compares the app channel against the online storefront on the same catalog. App users choose to install, and no holdout test was run, so none of this proves the app caused the difference. It shows how the two channels compared in a defined window, which is the weaker and more honest claim.
- Missus has been on NAPPS since 2021 and the app still runs about 30% of online revenue. Over the trailing 365 days as of July 2026, its app customers spend +47% more each and return at 44.20% against 33.63% on the storefront. It is our longest-running customer proof point; the spend and returning-rate comparison covers one year.
- Planeta Huerto rebuilt a webview app as a native build on the same catalog. In the first 90 days, its app customers spent +47% more each than storefront customers, with a 72% repeat purchase rate.
- Zippy sees the app convert about +370% against mobile web, with roughly 34% of total online revenue through the app, measured July 2025 to February 2026. Note the basis: app against mobile web, not app against all web traffic.
Based on NAPPS customer data, app channel against online storefront. Across customers, brands commonly see 15–45% of online revenue move to the app in the first months when push, loyalty, and content are actively used. Hold every vendor on your shortlist, us included, to stating what it measured and over what window.
Frequently asked questions
Start with the requirement your team needs to meet. Venn Apps provides managed design and implementation from $1,999/month. MobiLoud preserves a web storefront at $1,499 plus setup and usage charges. Tapcart lists A/B testing on Scale at $1,250. OneMobile starts at $99 plus capped excess-revenue fees; its exclusive brand design and dedicated designer require OMNI at $990. NAPPS Business is $299, with Klaviyo and Expresso included on every plan; Expresso gives your developer custom native components, with implementation scoped separately. Competitor subscriptions were checked October 12, 2026.
Published entry subscriptions in this shortlist range from $99 to $1,999/month. Required higher tiers can cost more: Tapcart Enterprise+ starts at $2,850, and quoted engagements have no verified ceiling. Add applicable revenue or usage charges, setup and development, third-party tools, and your team's operating time. OneMobile's fee cap limits its infrastructure charge, not the whole bill. Store accounts are separate: Apple Developer costs $99/year and Google Play registration $25 once.
NAPPS builds every commerce screen in SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose. Venn apps are native too: Venn names Swift and Kotlin, and the Venn-built app we inspected on October 12, 2026 is Swift on UIKit for iOS and Kotlin with Jetpack Compose for Android. React Native can also render platform UI components. MobiLoud describes webview content with a native shell, and the MobiLoud-built iOS app we inspected on October 12, 2026 is built that way. In the nine Tapcart-built apps we inspected on Android and iOS, the commerce screens were web content inside a native shell; on iOS they were pages served from tapcart.studio. That is nine apps, not every Tapcart build. The OneMobile-built iOS app we inspected on October 12, 2026 is React Native with Expo modules and also ships a web view component. Ask about each required screen. An empty inspector result cannot prove native rendering.
A WebView approach can suit a team that wants to reuse its storefront and web integrations. Test checkout, authentication, search, loyalty, and subscriptions in the proposed build, and confirm who maintains each part. The rendering label does not establish performance or compatibility. Choose from the tested shopping flows, required integrations, and maintenance scope.
Yes, if the replacement can ship as an update to your existing app. Confirm access to the existing listings, bundle and package identifiers, and signing setup before canceling your current provider. Updating the app in your own developer accounts and transferring it between accounts require different steps. Apple's transfer documentation and Google's transfer guidance explain how eligible account transfers preserve listings, reviews, and users. Check push credentials and token handling, deep links, login sessions, Firebase access, and analytics event mapping individually. What carries over depends on the migration. Export any baseline you need from your previous provider's dashboards before canceling. Have your technical team and legal reviewer confirm the transfer and handover terms.
The bottom line
Three questions settle this. How does each shopping screen render, on iOS and Android, in the build you would buy? What is the minimum plan that covers the stack you already run? And what is the 24-month total once variable fees, implementation, and your own hours are in the model?
Answer them with each vendor's pricing and integration pages, a written quote, and a demo on your own catalog. The entry price is rarely the bill: Klaviyo alone moves Tapcart from $500 to $2,850 a month.
If native custom screens are where your brand competes, the fastest way to settle it is to hold one. We will build your store as a native app on your real catalog so you can run the on-device test yourself first. The app is free until you publish, and if you are switching, the remaining months on your current contract are on us.
